The first May Bank Holiday has been and gone and what a lovey day! The sun shone, the kids got to run about and a general good time was had by all. I think I say this every month but yet again I can’t believe how quickly this year is whizzing by. I am loving the longer evenings and hope the temperatures continue to creep up. So, here are a few bits and pieces I’ve loved in April despite all it’s showers…
Frances Trousers by Hush – I packed these as a last minute “throw in the suitcase” option when we went to Bermuda and thank goodness I did. I wore them most evenings with different tops. The material hangs beautifully and is very flattering. They also was brilliantly on a delicate hand wash cycle.
Ludlow Sandals by Hush – I know, I know, yet ANOTHER piece from Hush but these sandals were another piece I wore everyday in Bermuda. The perfect heel height for me and a lovely soft gold colour. The perfect Summer sandals!
Embroidered Dotted Mesh Blouse by Zara – two things. One, admittedly it has not been the weather to wear this but I love it and it has been sitting patiently in my wardrobe ready to be worn with jeans and a white tee. Two, why do Zara make some things which are so pretty in store look so ridiculous when doing their very trendy modelling. I mean look at the miserable time she’s having in her mustard dress and white boots…
Patterned Jersey Top by Anna Glover x H&M – another top which is waiting for warmer the weather! I actually have the yellow print version which is available in store but not online. A gorgeous soft jersey in a pretty floral/botanical print which will look great dressed up or down and at a fab price.
Intensive Calming Cleanser by Doctor Babor – I was recommended this cleanser by a skin expert I went to see. I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect much but it has been so lovely to use. A gentle milk cleanser which you apply to dry skin. You then wet your hands and massage it in to create an emulsion before wiping off with a damp face cloth. It has really calmed my skin down and leaves it feeling beautifully soft. I have also been using the Ultimate Calming Serum not only as a stage to calm my skin down but also as a gentle eye treatment. I have really notice the fine lines reduce around my eyes since using it!
Navy Cowl Neck Hoodie by Bricks & Stitches/Hari and The Gang – this was my constant go-to when skiing and acres-ski called. Cosy yet slim fitting so as not to be overly bulky I can see this being a permanent fixture for cool Devon evenings thrown over a tee and denim shorts.
Peter Pan Collar Baby Bodysuits by Jojo Maman Bebe – I’m sorry, but these little bodysuits are just too adorable for words. Hettie had them for our holiday and they were perfect. Now we are back they can be worn under little romper dungarees.
Cool Mist Diffuser by InnoGear – this little bamboo diffuser can be used with or without essential oils. Perfect for little ones who may have a cough or dry skin as well as being ideal for adding a few drops of your favourite oil and switching on to fill the room with a subtle fragrance. I have mine on my desk and unlike candles which you have to remember to blow out (yes, i have been known to forget…), this will simply shut itself off when it’s empty. Also I like that I can add different oils depending on how I’m feeling.
You Are Awesome by Matthew Syed and Stories For Boys Who Dare To Be Different by Quercus Books – I purchased both of these books for the boys and they are fantastic. The You Are Awesome book speaks to kids on their level without being patronising about how to achieve something you really want and how it does take work and patience…better than hearing it from your parents! The Stories book has a page on each person and writes in a story telling style. The first person we read about was Bill Gates which the boys enjoyed so now we choose a different person every night.
