We’ve been quite lucky with the sun in May, we’ve had a beautiful royal wedding and Summer holidays are just around the corner. Hettie is now 6 months old (!!) and I feel I need to start dressing her in something other than her sleep suits…in fact, I did buy her one item of “clothing”, which has made it into my May favourites and hopefully she’ll get a couple more for her wardrobe.
This little embroidered pink romper from Marks & Spencer is adorable. It’s soft cotton and easy for a baby to wear whilst looking picture perfect. I love that girls and boys are given more choice nowadays but I have to admit, I do love getting to buy pink pieces now! Available here.
I do love a bit of leopard print and Hush have got it spot on with this maxi skirt. It is sold out at the moment but available to pre-order and I can tell you, it is fab. definitely worth placing an order. Wear with trainers or sandals for a fun way to take a walk on the wild side (as long as that wild side involves me being in bed by 9:30pm, mint tea in one hand and book in the other!!). Available to pre-order here.
This dress from Zara is a perfect Summer dress for me. Soft brights, tassels and a flowing style make it a dress which will be a Summer staple for my wardrobe. Available here.
I love to cook. My father was a chef and for as far back as I can remember food was celebrated in our house. This means I can’t resist a cook book and Mary Berry’s “Classic” book has been fabulous. I love that the ingredients are usually ones you will already have and she also gives hints for preparing and cooking ahead – perfect when entertaining friends and family. Available here.
I don’t often wear foundation. I only tend to wear it it I’m going “out out” so I like the feeling to be light, non-cakey and give me a bit of a fake glow. Laura Mercier’s Silk Creme Moisturising Photo Edition Foundation (wow, that’s a looooooong name) delivers all I want and just makes me look better and (crucially) more awake than usual. Available here.
I’ve been a fan of the illustrator Jennie Maizels for a while now. I find drawing a way to unwind and tune out of the generally manic and crazy world we live in. She offers and online sketchbook club and I am really enjoying the modules. At the moment I am doing the “Bees” module – available here. Jennie shows how we can ALL, no matter what experience we have can draw/sketch/illustrate. In fact, often the boys join me in the module to create their own pieces.
Hettie is starting to interact more and more with the world around her. She received the Kid O Myland horse for Christmas and she is now finding it fun to try and hold and to watch. Kid O toys from the Myland series all use sound and light to capture little ones’ imaginations. When the little girl sits on the horse bird song starts and if you move the horse along, the hooves make a “clip clop” sound. It’s enchanting and I love watching Hettie’s delighted reaction to it. Available here.
