A couple of months ago I was sent a sneak peek at the various drops which were lined up in the Baukjen AW18 collection. When I laid eyes on the Skyler Blouse and co-ordinating Trousers, I knew I had found my go-to outfit not only for festive do’s but they are pieces which can luxe up a daytime look easily.
Since watching the Stacey Dooley documentary on “Fashions Dirty Secrets” (sadly it’s no longer available on iPlayer, I have made a conscious decision to try and buy clothing (and other items) more responsibly. Baukjen is the perfect brand if you are looking to shop smarter as they put a large emphasis on sustainability as one of their spokespeople stated,
“Sustainability is a key focus for Baukjen, from the factories we work with to collections we design and the packaging that the customer receives our products in. Each item in our collections has been designed with versatility, quality and timelessness in mind. We use Tencel and other sustainable fabrics to produce our collections and fabric wastage is reduced by ordering small quantities. If a style is doing well, we’ll order more but we never overestimate our stock levels. Digital printing is also utilised to reduce water consumption and chemical usage. We keep things local – all our designs and the majority of our samples are done in-house in our London studio, and over 90% of our collection is manufactured in Europe because miles per garment matter to us. We select which factories we work with carefully and ensure that all are committed to Corporate Social Responsibility. Many are family-run businesses, just like ourselves.”
Therefore, now when I buy something or want something I think about how many ways I can style it and how often I am likely to get wear out of the item. The Skylar co-ord is just such a piece and I thought I would show you a few ways I’ll be wearing it over the coming months.
The trousers, teamed with a super soft knit and trainers mean it can take on whatever the day brings.
The trousers with a crisp white shirt and cashmere knit are perfect partners for a smarter look during the day.
The blouse, put with some check trousers and brogues mean business (excuse the pun…!).
To change the look, add a silky shirt to the trousers in a different colour or print.
Team the top with a metallic skirt (yep, gold again but silver would work just as well!) for a really sparkly look.
I was gifted the Skylar co-ord set however all styling and opinions are my own unless otherwise stated.
