A good board game is a great Christmas present for kids. It means the family gets together and spends some time having a giggle (hopefully with minor “sore loser syndrome” from any members or said family!). Here are a few which have made it into the kids’ Christmas stockings or which we have and still love to play…there’s still time to get that minute gift and these are perfect!
Tumble Top – a simple game where you spin the spinning top and wherever it lands the points are added to your score. Perfect for young and old…and a good way to help with the kids’ maths without bringing out the homework!
Bug Bingo – a continual favourite in our house (we have the Bug and Bird versions!) – there are other illustrated versions by the same illustrator from Dinosaurs, to the Ocean to Dogs and Birds…
OK Play! – a brilliant game if you’re travelling over the Christmas break. Simply choose you tiles and try and get five in a row.
Wild Cards – a great game which smaller kids can join in with. A game of trumps involving animals…beautifully illustrated and a good size to pop in a bag then out and about.
Stormy Seas – this game is a hit with the kids time and again. A game of balance which will last and last.
Charades for Kids – a truly festive game for all the family.
Frustration – Harry was given this for his birthday and it has been played over and over again since.
Chess – this game by Vilac is a particularly beautiful game for the kids to learn to play with.
Battleship – a good game for teaching kids about strategy and thinking ahead. Harry loves this game!
Snakes and Ladders – this game also has Ludo on the other side and has been illustrated really well.
