A new year almost always means good intentions to get fitter and healthier. There are so many ways this can be achieved. Whether you prefer the routine of the gym, a walk with the family, the fresh air of an outdoor run or the social element of a fitness class, there is usually something you can find to enthuse you. If you are anything like me, willingness to exercise is not quickly forthcoming (I am the girl who used to hide during Cross Country school runs so I didn’t have to do all the laps!), a new “kit” so you feel ready, (slightly more) willing and (questionably) able can make a difference. Yes, it may seem a bit superficial but whatever gets me motivated! Here are some ideas which might just get you reaching for the balance ball…
Outdoor run
Thermodynamic leggings and top by Sweaty Betty – the bright colours make sure you’ll be noticed if out road running and the material maintains a comfortable temperature.
Sweatshirt by H&M – perfect for outdoor running with the longer wrist cuffs and thumb hole and a good price.
Running trainers by Asics – I use Asics as I am a bit paranoid about my feet having the correct shoes/trainers…don’t ask…as weird disliking of lumpy feet!
Gym session
Active vest and leggings by Rosie for Autograph – a loose top can hide the “too many mince pies” tummy whilst the leggings hide the pasty winter legs!
Workout top by Essex Mama – I love the positive message on this loose vest top. Team with a bright sports bra and take on that treadmill!
Trainers by Puma – a good all rounder trainer…and in the sale! Available in a few colours but this purple packs a punch and adds fun to a new fitness regime.
Yoga and Pilates
Sweat top and leggings by Varley at Jax Jeans – I was introduced to this brand by a fellow school mum as well as the super stylish Luxe in the Country. Simple, cool, a little bit different…love these pieces!
Silver yoga mat by Holistic Silk – the ultimate yoga mat for complete meditation. It releases the scent of lavender to help you switch off from everyday stresses…
Outdoor walk
Parka by En Parle De Vous – cosy and on trend…plus there is 50% off!
Hooded ultra light down coat by Uniqulo – these ultra light and slim coats are so warm thanks to the down filling and can be packed up super small (perfect for layering under a Barbour jacket or wearing alone). I can highly recommend the kids’ versions as well as easy to carry if the kids insist on going coat-free!
Shearling biker boot by Hush – keep your feet toasty warm whilst stomping through fallen leaves.
Swim
Swimsculpt swimsuit by Marks & Spencer – a pretty deep dusky rose and dark bottom for a feminine look in the pool.
Milky Way swimsuit by Maru – I have a Maru – it holds you in (believe me this is very important after I had a swimsuit mishap with a halter neck swimsuit and it all became rather loose!).
Extras
Backpack by Tiba + Marl – I use my leopard print Elwood backpack for the gym as well as a general “take everything when out with he kids” bag. This gold offering adds some glitz to the gym visit.
The Hoop earphones by Coloud – I was sent these last year and the little loops help hold the earphones in place without being uncomfortable and the wire does not tangle. Also, if you run outdoors, these have a reflective strip to help with visibility.
Water bottle by ban.do – Positive. Mental. Attitude….right here.
